Sewage Treatment Plant at Hulimavu Lake to Be Fast-Tracked Amid Resident Complaints

Officials have ordered accelerated construction after residents flagged sewage flowing into the lake.

Following complaints from residents about sewage entering Hulimavu Lake, the Greater Bengaluru Authority’s forest and environment wing has reviewed ongoing development work at the site. Officials have directed the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) to speed up construction of a sewage treatment plant and to install fencing around the lake’s perimeter.

Authorities say the fencing is expected to help prevent encroachment while also improving safety around the water body. The lake has been a recurring point of concern for nearby residents, who have raised the issue with civic bodies multiple times over the past year.
