Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Sanand, Gujarat, calling it proof that “whatever India resolves to do, it firmly accomplishes.” The plant has already reached an annual production capacity of 20 crore semiconductor units and is targeting 500 crore units a year going forward.
Modi said India’s youth would drive the country’s push into AI, robotics, and next-generation technology using domestically manufactured chips, describing the facility as a symbol of international technological collaboration between Indian, Japanese, and Thai companies. He urged young Indians to continuously upgrade their skills to stay competitive as the sector expands into design, testing, and supply chain management roles.
