East Bengal FC have won their first Indian Super League title, ending a 22-year wait for a major title and marking their fourth overall Indian football championship. The 2025-26 season concluded on May 21, with East Bengal getting the better of defending champions Mohun Bagan, who had won the previous edition.
The season itself had a turbulent build-up, with a dispute over the league’s Master Rights Agreement delaying the start until February before the Supreme Court intervened to get the season underway in a condensed single-leg format.
