Pediatricians are increasingly flagging excessive screen time among children as a health concern, citing links to disrupted sleep patterns, eye strain, and reduced physical activity. Doctors note that the shift has accelerated in recent years as tablets and smartphones have become a routine part of both schooling and entertainment for young children.
Health experts recommend parents set consistent screen-time boundaries, encourage outdoor play, and ensure devices are kept out of bedrooms at night to protect children’s sleep quality. Regular eye check-ups are also advised for children who spend extended hours in front of screens.
